Physie is a dance and exercise class. Each age group learns 5-6 new routines each year. The routines are choreographed to contemporary music and are a cross section of different styles of dance such as aerobics, ballet, jazz, contemporary and hip-hop.
Yes. At Como Physie we offer your first 2 weeks obligation free. You can watch or participate in a class to see what it’s like before committing to join our club.
No – competitions are not compulsory. There are both individual competitions (interclubs and champion girl / lady) and team competitions. Team competitions require 8 girls or ladies. At Como Physie, every effort is made to include every girl / lady in a team.
Physie is a not for profit sport, which makes it very affordable. Physie classes are offered over 3 terms between February to November. Class for our juniors - ladies run during April (1 weeks), June and September school holidays. Classes work out at around $8 per lesson.
Usually 3 years of age is a good age to cope with our petite class. This class is designed to teach girls to concentrate, build confidence in performing and start to teach the basic Physie positions. At Como Physie, the first 2 weeks are obligation free, so the best way to gauge if a girl is ready for the petite class is to come along and try it out.
Our fees allow attendance at up to two classes per week, although there is no expectation to attend both classes. Please click here to see the class schedule by age group.
Boys are not excluded from Physie, however, at this point in time we do not have any boys doing Physie at Como club.
At Como Physie every effort is made to keep our petite / junior and senior class sizes small to allow individual attention to all our students. All these classes have two teachers, with classes of 10 or less students. Our aim is to have every single student of ours perform to their best ability.
Our petites can wear whatever they are comfortable in. We like our junior and senior students to wear a leotard or gym pants with a fitted top to allow the teacher to work on their posture. Physie is done in bare feet.
No need at all to come with dance experience or background - that’s what we’re here for! This is a sport you can start at any age and we love watching family members enjoy physie together. We have many families where mum and grandma have joined to share the bond of physie with their loved ones!
